Mallorca Wine 1819
Dear Mallorca friends and wine connoisseurs!
In 2008, we published the first Mallorca Wine Magazine. Thus, with the now sixth edition of the island-oenological compendium, we are celebrating a ten-year anniversary that at the time we only dared to dream about, perhaps fueled by autochthonous grapes. But the desire and passion in the context of Mallorcan wines, whose reputation and quality have developed superbly over this decade, have even grown since. Alongside the fabulous island wines, there are also exciting news about wineries & bodegas in the continuously growing wine world of Mallorca, worth communicating to an interested audience of enthusiasts - and by that, I mean you.
In this edition, we examine the peculiarities of Mallorcan viticulture in general and the two major production regions of the island, namely D.O. Binissalem, D.O. Pla i Llevant, as well as the two protected geographical indications Vi de la Terra Mallorca and Serra de Tramuntana Costa Nord over 114 pages in particular. In total, 193 wines were tasted for Mallorca Wine 2018/2019 starting from page 42, including all top wines from the most important Mallorcan producers. However, it was not only this delightful task that the rather critical Mallorca Wine editorial team devoted themselves to with great dedication.
We also looked beyond the edge of the plate or glass. As a result, this wine guide (as Mallorca Wine is now called by many regular readers) features for the first time a detailed chapter over 4 pages on Brut and sparkling wines of Mallorca. And while we were at it, expanding the drink menu of Mallorca Wine, we also took a deep dive into the glasses of the trendiest gin distilleries from page 174 on Mallorca. This proved worthwhile and showed us why there are several bars in Mallorca specifically specializing in gin.
Not new, but always a culinary challenge, are the wine culinary tours we've crafted over 20 pages. These don't just lead across the island but are, we confidently claim, a feast for gourmets. And of course, also for wine ambassadors, we've expanded the program on page 18 and perhaps soon as well for the members of the Mallorca Wine Club in the process of being established on pages 20-22.
You see and read, there is a lot to do and of course also to drink.
