The founding year of Bodegas Macià Batle - 1856 - is also the name of a new wine line now introduced to the public. It replaces the "Crianza" designation for barrel-aged wines of the D.O. Binissalem origin, which Macià Batle left in 2016 to avoid the constraints of its strict regulations and gain freedom for more experimentation with their ideas.
The "1856" is in no way inferior in quality to the Crianza wine. It is a high-quality blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Mantonegro, Merlot, and Syrah that matures for at least twelve months in French oak barrels after a short interim storage in stainless steel tanks. This year, the Merlot proportion amounts to 37% and gives the wine great smoothness. "We ensure that the blend does not vary too much to guarantee consistent quality," says CEO Ramón Servalls.
