Color: Clean and intense cherry red with a hint of light tears in the wine glass
Palate: On the palate it presents itself powerful, tasty and with an intense aroma. Mild tannins well harmonized with the wood.
Food pairing suggestion: Harmonizes wonderfully with Spanish ham specialties, with pan-fried or grilled meat dishes from beef, lamb or kid, with dark poultry, with mildly spicy cheese, also a delight with 70% chocolate.
The founding year of Bodegas Macià Batle - 1856 - is also the name of a new wine line that has now been presented to the public. It replaces the designation "Crianza" for barrel-aged wines with the designation of origin D.O. Binissalem, which Macià Batle left in 2016, in order not to be bound by their strict regulations and to better experiment with their own ideas.
The "1856" wine is in no way inferior to the Crianza wine in quality. It is a high-quality blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Mantonegro, Merlot, and Syrah, which matures for at least twelve months in French oak barrels after a short intermediate storage in the steel tank. The Merlot content is 37% this year and gives the wine great smoothness. "But we make sure the mix doesn't vary too much to ensure consistent quality," says CEO Ramón Servalls.
Allergen note: contains sulfites
